A Detailed Guide for Donations to KPC
The Kelowna Paddle Centre faces an ambitious fundraising goal for our updated campus. We hope this guide helps you choose the best way for you to make your donation to KPC.
Overview & Importance
The Kelowna Paddle Centre and the City of Kelowna are partnering to update the KPC campus. Both partners are responsible for a portion of the project and must agree before construction can commence.
This is an existential challenge for KPC – completing the campus updates is a requirement for renewing our lease in 2026!
KPC must confirm we can afford our portion of the project and we have a deadline to do so. This is important for a number of reasons:
- Final approval & preparation takes time but construction must start in the fall of 2025.
- We can only ensure donations go towards the new campus if the project is successful.

Our goal is to fundraise $800K
This is the minimum to afford KPC’s portion of the project with
our existing funds and a sustainable level of bank financing.
The Best Way to Donate
The KPC Campus Operations Fund is open for donations now.
We are working with the BC Amateur Sport Fund so you will receive a tax credit for your donation. Here’s how it works:
- We apply for the BCASF to collect funds on our behalf.
- BCASF collects your donation and provides a tax-receipt.
- You receive a tax-credit for up to 53% of your donation.
- KPC receives funds from BCASF after we have paid eligible expenses.
This immensely increases the value for KPC since we receive much more than the cost of your donation once tax credits are applied. For example, someone who budgets to contribute $2,500 can actually donate $4,500 as they will receive a tax credit for more than $2,000 of their donation.
You may choose to make a single donation or monthly contribution when you donate through the KPC Campus Operations Fund at BCASF.

Future KPC Campus Development Fund
The Operations Fund will change to the Campus Development Fund in Spring 2025.
Eligible expenses for the KPC Campus Operations Fund must be part of our operating budget. Switching to a construction fund will help us to pay for construction costs that are not included and multiple times larger than our annual operating expenses.
The BCASF requires us to have our development permit (and council approval) before approving a fund specifically for construction costs. That is expected to happen by the spring.
The Operations Fund allows us to collect donations immediately. It also ensures KPC can still benefit from any surplus donations.
